Shower knobs

I stepped into the shower at the Marriott Hotel in Newcastle. Reaching for the knobs, my brain actually had to do some work. The cap on top adjusted the strength of the water, while a handle under the cap allowed for the temperature.

That was relatively easy.

I didn't think much of the complexity of the shower system at the Hilton in Cardiff, until icy cold water was pouring over me. I stared at the controls. It was too simple. There was just one thing you could turn. One single knob. I had twisted it slightly, and only cold water was coming out. i turned it more. Hot water came out. it was too hot, so I turned it back a bit. I gave up after a few tries, and left the temperature overly warm.

I think that the system was only capable of one strength of current and it only allowed for the adjustment of temperature. Either that, or the previous user had broken it in a fit of rage.
